Call for Nominations for the  

2024 David G. Imig Distinguished Service Award 

The CPED David G. Imig Distinguished Service award is presented in recognition of an individual who has demonstrated important contributions to the Vision, Mission, and Values of CPED and the reclaiming of the EdD as the highest quality professional practice doctorate in education.   

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

The recipient of this award will be a faculty member or administrator from a CPED member institution who has contributed significantly to improving the professional doctorate in education (EdD) both at their home institution and within the CPED network through the:  

  1. Advancement of the CPED Vision, Mission, and Values 

  1. Contributions to reclaiming the EdD 

Specifically, the selection committee will seek and review evidence which demonstrates distinguished contributions by the nominee in at least two of the following areas: 

  • Leadership within the CPED Network or in a CPED-influenced EdD program (re)design  

  • Teaching and advising contributions that align with the CPED Framework in a CPED-influenced EdD program   

  • Scholarship that advances understanding of the CPED Framework or a CPED-influenced EdD program   

Any CPED member – administrator or faculty—may be nominated by a fellow colleague. The Imig Award is presented at the annual October CPED Convening. Both nominator and awardee must attend the October Convening to present and receive the award.  

Submission Requirements & Procedure 

Applications for this award must include: 

  1. A one-page letter stating the basis for the nomination 

  1. Curriculum Vitae of the nominee  

  1. Up to three supporting pieces of evidence that demonstrate how the nominee meets the criteria listed above (Material may include letters of support from other colleagues familiar with the nominee’s work, sample publications, course work, syllabi or unique activity/assignment, professional practice demonstration,CPED committee work and additional information on the nominee’s accomplishments). 

An award committee (comprised of prior winners and the CPED Executive Director) will review nominations. A winner will be selected based upon the award criteria. This committee reserves the right to present this award to multiple candidates in any given year, or conversely, not to present this award should nominees not fully meet the selection criteria.
