Researcher Orientation Outline
Part I. Theory & Design
Module A. Theoretical Framework for FIPSE study
This module will provide an overview of the theory that underlies the CPED-FIPSE research. In particular, the readings will focus on change theory and will culminate in a discussion of how an understanding of change theory will influence your work as a FIPSE researcher.
Module B. FIPSE study & Qualitative Design
This module focuses on the FIPSE research and the overarching research questions and goals. Additionally, an overview of qualitative research design is provided.
Module C. Research Tools and Procedures
The purpose of this module is to familiarize FIPSE researchers with the tools and documents that will be used in the data collection process and to provide context for the institution they will visit. Researchers will review the data points for their assigned institutions to gain this background information. Finally, researchers will review the logistics of their site visit.
Part II. Coding & Analysis
Module A. Data transfer
This module provides information about transferring files from the site visits, followed by a plan for data analysis.
Module B. Coding and Reporting the Case
This module provides the basis for coding of data and the construction of the case reports.
