Program Description

2 ½ year program; classes combine distance learning with traditional class sessions; weekends and three week summer format; targeted at practicing school administrators.

Philosophy and Mission

The program is designed to deliver traditional high quality instruction & preparation in a format that meets the needs of working professionals; the program prepares graduates for leadership roles in authentic K-12 settings; W & M graduate programs prepare graduates as content experts, effective practitioners, educational leaders and efficient collaborators.

Admissions Requirements

The program requires either GRE or MAT scores within the past five years. Applicants complete the application form and a writing prompt to highlight the reasons that the program fits their career and educational goals as well as their long term goals.

Milestones Employed in the Program — comprehensive/qualifying exams, papers, or products necessary for graduation

The program includes a comprehensive written exam at the conclusion of all courses, followed by an orals defense. Students must submit a qualifying proposal prior to declaration of candidacy for the dissertation. The dissertation defense includes a proposal defense and a final defense. In addition, all courses include papers and projects assigned by the instructor.

Total $59,000 *Total costs (tuition, fees, all materials, parking)

*Does not include travel or lodging costs; does include some meals in 3-week summer session.
