(Our group spent a long time chatting at lunch; thus the brief notes)

  • Should adopt the mindset that research is integral to all other courses
  • Not concerned with being entirely quantitative or qualitative but open to mixed methods
  • Need to ask - do problems exist in the entire organization or more at the classroom level? This will inform research

Need for:

  • Informative assessment
  • Student engaged formative assessment
  • Teacher assessment
  • Assumption that EdD leaders who do research are all at the leadership level; do they truly hold the characteristics of a leader?
  • What do practitioners need to know - do they need all of these research methods skills? What are the antecedents to this assumption?
